Our Lady of Zapopan Visits Our Parish

5/29/2017

Picture
Every year St. Anthony’s receives a visit of the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Zapopan.

This is a devotion enjoyed by the Mexican people, especially those from the state of Jalisco, Mexico.  Zapopan is a small city east of Guadalajara.  The image has a deep following there and here as well.  The City of Rosemead participates in a “sister city” relationship with Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico; so perhaps even more reason to find meaning in the visit of this cultural image.

The pilgrim image will arrive on Monday, May 29th at 5 p.m. with a Mass of reception at 7 p.m., and remain in our church till Wednesday, May 31st. For more information, please call the Parish Office at  626 288-8912.

Update:
Dear Fellow Parishioners,
It’s hard to believe that we are already in the month of May and well into our 2017 Together in Mission Campaign. This brief message is to give you an update on how we are tracking for our goal of $61,000.00. The good news is that together we have built up $46,434.00 in pledges, the bad news is that we still need $14,566 more.

Our Together in Mission Campaign is designed to help the poorest Parishes and Schools of our Archdioceses, including our own. St Anthony’s has benefited from Together in Mission funds in recent years, this is why it’s so important that we obtain our goal this year.

We can’t do it without you. If you have not given yourself the opportunity, to participate in this very giving campaign, I invite you to do so today. Please prayerfully reflect on the materials in the pew and submit your pledge today.

Thank you and God Bless You.
The Together in Mission Team

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,

On behalf of Father Chris, Father Jim, Father Thaddeus, Deacon Manuel, Seminarian Eman, our entire Parish and School Staff, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, and myself, I wish you and your families a joyous and faith filled Easter Season. May the glory of the Risen Christ lift up our hearts.

We congratulate and welcome all the adults, youth and children who are receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist in this holy season.

We are deeply grateful for those parish staff members and volunteers who work so hard in sacramental preparation. We thank Father Chris and the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) team, Deacon Manuel, Maria Montoya and Edgar from the Spanish RICA, Stephanie Ramos and the Religious Education team, Sister Miriam Mark and the school First Communion Team, Pearl Romero and the Children’s Initiation team, Leticia Saucedo and the youth Confirmation team, and Carolyn Guzman, Deacon Manuel and Mrs. Luz Chavez, who prepare and celebrate our infant baptisms all year round.

We are very grateful to all those who work so hard to make our parish liturgies beautiful. We thank our Altar Servers, Sacristans, Lectors, Ushers, Eucharistic Ministers, Cantors, Musicians and Choirs, as well as our Liturgy Committee chaired by John Hammerbacher and our Liturgical Environment Committee led by Karen Keller assisted by Maria Luisa Medina.

Finally, we thank all those who contribute toward the beautiful flowers in our church this season, and we remember their deceased loved ones in a special way.

As those early disciples rushed to the empty tomb, may we hurry to be witness to the Good News that Jesus lives among us and within us.

Father Austin Doran

CHRISM MASS

This year’s Chrism Mass will be held on
Monday, April 10th at 7:00 p.m.
at the
Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels
At this Mass the People, Priests, Deacons, and Religious gather with Archbishop Gomez to
celebrate as the Catholic people of Los Angeles. During the Mass, the Holy Oils are blessed and distributed to all the parishes. Another highlight of this Mass is that the priests of the
Archdiocese of Los Angeles renew their vows of obedience and their commitment to serve God’s people.

Since parking in the Cathedral garage is limited, everyone is encouraged to carpool. Also, it is highly recommended that you arrive at the Cathedral by 5:30 p.m. so that way you can park in the Cathedral garage. All of our parishioners are invited to attend. It will be a holy moment and a great experience for you. For more information about the Chrism Mass visit www.olacathedral.org.
